Do I need a US LLC to run Meta ads? I'm not based in the US.

Consistent confusion among non-US operators, delays launches by weeks

No. You do not need a US LLC to run Meta ads. You can run ads as an individual with a foreign card in many cases. This is a very common misconception that delays non-US operators by weeks while they sort out business formations they don't need yet.

What you actually need: a valid payment method, a personal Facebook account in good standing, and a Business Manager. That's it to run ads. The LLC matters for different reasons:

  • Payment processor compliance: Stripe and PayPal US accounts require a US entity. If you want US-based processing, you'll eventually want a US LLC.
  • When You Need an LLC
  • Bank accounts: US business bank accounts require a US entity. Wise, Mercury, and similar fintechs are alternatives.
  • Liability protection: An LLC protects personal assets. Once you're doing real revenue, this matters. At zero revenue, it's premature optimization.

Start running ads now. Sort out the entity structure once you're profitable and processing real volume.
